Dear Colleagues:
As some of you may already be aware, the EU has published an extension of the transition period for requiring the new EU health certificates. I’ve attached the published legislation. It can also be found here: https://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/EN/TXT/?uri=CELEX%3A32021R1329&qid=1628801501208
Instead of August 20, 2021 being the last day the “old” harmonized EU certificates can be endorsed by the USDA, the final day for endorsement is now January 14, 2022. Starting January 15, 2022, only the new EU certificates (currently posted on the EU IRegs) can be endorsed.
For the first few weeks after August 20, I would still recommend you verify with BCP’s that they are aware of the extension before shipping. While the extension is official/has been published, I want to avoid stuck shipments in case the information has not trickled down to all the ports yet.
Endorsement offices have been informed and the IRegs will be updated shortly. Please feel free to forward this email as needed.
Warm Regards,
Laura Evans, DVM
