Dear Friends
We have an update on the Embargo which was imposed for pet imports by the Government of Sri Lanka since mid-March 2020.
The Government Ministry overlooking this subject (Department of Animal Production & Health) informed us that the embargo on pet imports has been relaxed based on certain terms & conditions as follows.

-  Import Approval will be granted for pets to arrive in Colombo (CMB) as “manifested air freight cargo under an Air Waybill” where the pet travels separately from the pet owner. Note: pets arriving as Excess Baggage will cause various issues as passengers are subject to PCR tests and mandatory quarantine upon arrival.

-  For pets’ arriving in CMB airport as Manifested Air Freight Cargo, prior arrangement must be made for import Customs & Quarantine clearance as required through approved agents.

- All pets’ must fulfil Sri Lanka’s usual entry regulations and apart from these, pets must undergo a mandatory COVID-19 PCR Test at the country of origin within 72 hours prior to embarkation. Original Test Report with Negative Results will be required for the Quarantine Clearance upon arrival in Colombo (CMB).

**Please note that the above regulations are subject to any changes.

Reopening of Sri Lanka's Colombo International Airport (CMB) has been delayed indefinitely. But we expect the CMB airport to be opened for inbound passengers in September hopefully.
However, CMB airport is operational for inbound and outbound cargo flights, charters repatriating Sri Lankan nationals, and flights taking passengers ex-CMB.

Feel free to get in touch with us if you have any questions.
Thank you.
