An update on Live Animal shipments

The impact of COVID-19 has rapidly changed the way all of us conduct business and our personal lives. We know that many of you have had to quickly adapt processes and policies in the face of this crisis.

To ensure your most treasured shipments have a smooth journey during these uncertain times, we are temporarily changing the guidelines for how we transport Live Animals.

Effective Wednesday, March 25, 2020, American Airlines Cargo will implement the following changes for Live Animal shipments scheduled on or after the effective date:

·    Live Animal shipments will be restricted to domestic travel within and between the United States, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands 

·    One flight segment per Live Animal booking will be allowed (no connecting flights)

·    Due to our unprecedented network changes, we no longer have the operational efficiencies to support our current pricing. To be able to continue our Live Animal program, we will be implementing a Peak Surcharge (PSC) of $75 per Air Waybill (AWB) for all new bookings scheduled to move on or after March 25,2020. Fees will not apply to bookings which were made ahead of this communication.
