Warm Holiday Wishes from ATA

Dear ATA Members, You will not be surprised that, like many others, we do take a few moments to look back on the past year. Most of you will agree that it has been a challenging year in many and various ways. It might have even been a historic year… but only time will tell us. As in past years, the most commonly used word globally has been and is probably still ‘sustainability’, which means that the challenge is far from being achieved yet…. Pet Travel preparations for Christmas travel

As you know, our messaging advises pet owners planning to travel with their pets to Europe after Brexit to contact their vets at least four months before travel to prepare for all scenarios, including No Deal. We now want to remind pet owners planning a trip to the EU over the Christmas and New Year period that they need to speak to their vets before the end of August 2019 for guidance. Read more

Veterinary Export Health Certification System

The United States Department of Agriculture, Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service, Veterinary Services (USDA, APHIS, VS) has an online electronic system for the creation, issuance, and endorsement of U.S. veterinary export health certificates used for the export of live animals and germplasm (semen, embryos, oocytes) called Veterinary Export Health Certification System (VEHCS). Using a secure server, VEHCS allows electronic issuance and digital endorsement of international health certificates. Read more

IATA and ATA join forces CEIV Live Animals

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) and the Animal Transport Association (ATA) have joined forces to encourage industry adoption of The Center of Excellence for Independent Validators for Live Animals Logistics (CEIV Live Animals). This was formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between IATA and ATA at ATA’s 49th Annual Conference in Budapest, Hungary. Read more
