The European Commission, DG Sante Animal Transport Guidelines Project aims to improve animal welfare around transport. The project develops and disseminates Guides to Good and Better Practice for animals transported within Europe and to third countries for slaughter, fattening and breeding.

 

Guides have been developed for cattle, horses, pigs, poultry and sheep transport. Click here to view the materials listed by species. 

 

The guidelines have been developed via a process of general consensus by a Stakeholder Platform, which includes experts in the fields of animal transport, welfare, veterinary medicine, industry, research and enforcement. ATA board members participated in the development of the guidelines.
