A Taste of Calgary

Our fall board meeting was held in Calgary the 23rd and 24th of September. Beautiful fall weather welcomed everyone for two days of meetings and site visits. Calgary Airport Authority (YYC) hosted our board meeting - many thanks to Keith Stanley for arranging the meeting room, coffee, and snacks! We were able to adjourn early and tour the new Animal Lounge at YYC that is slated for completion in November 2014. The facility will be fully operational in May 2015 and we will have opportunities to visit the Animal Lounge during our Annual Conference.

Following the tour at YYC, ATA member Kenneth Serrien with Overseas Horse Services, delivered us to Spruce Meadows for a tour of that facility and opportunities for ATA members during the 2015 conference.

Wednesday morning we enjoyed a nice breakfast at the Delta Bow Valley - the conference venue along the Bow River in Downtown Calgary. We were able to tour all the conference facilities and rooms. It is a wonderful hotel in a great location and will great for our conference in May!

After wrapping up the business side of the day, we headed west to the mountains for a light lunch at Lake Louise and dinner in Banff. I never lose appreciation for the beauty of the country I live in, and I love to share it with people whenever I can. Be sure to make a visit to Banff or Lake Louise one of your priorities while here in May - we will be offering tours of both places to conference attendees through local tour companies. If you get a chance, ask Board Members Raymond Tilburg, Kelly Wheeler, Anna Melino or ATA manager Lauren Taggart to show you their "Elk Selfies" - not many tour guides will track down an elk through the woods for them so they can take selfies with it!
