“The
Real Truth
As President of the AATA and the PetSafe Manager for Continental Airlines, Lisa will update attendees on the United State’s Department of Transportation’s Animal Incident Reporting rule.
Lisa’s goal will be to share with the audience the history of the information reported by U.S. Airlines since it’s inception in 2005. The rule requires that U.S. Airlines must report all injuries, deaths and loss of any warm or cold-blooded pet that occurs while the animal is traveling in the care, custody and control of a scheduled domestic passenger airline.
She will also evaluate the value of the information gleaned over these past 4 years vs. what the industry and activists groups were expecting when this rule came into affect. Lisa will also share some insight as to the future of Incident Reporting.
Continental Airlines is the world's fifth largest airline, carrying approximately 67 million passengers per year and more than 125,000 animal shipments. Continental consistently earns awards and critical acclaim for both its operation and its corporate culture. For the sixth consecutive year, FORTUNE magazine named Continental the No. 1 World's Most Admired Airline on its 2009 list of World's Most Admired Companies. The PetSafe program has been recognized by several industry groups, as well as the AATA and IPATA.

“AQIS Upcoming Fee
Simon JACKSON Managing Director Dogtainers Australia Pty
Government involvement in the import / export process should be seen as a partnership and not a levy. It is the great challenge of every importer and exporter to ensure that we work with these agencies and within there guidelines. The challenge has always been to ensure that the commercial sector did not pay for the public sectors free ride, and vice versa. It has also been a challenge to ensure that industry was serviced efficiently and effectively. The upcoming fee increase imposed by AQIS will impact pet transport in and out of Australia.
Australia's AQIS is an interesting case study on effective/ineffective management of the import/export process for live animals and plant material - and issues such as Equine Influenza and FMD will be forever on the lips of many exporters/importers in every country around the world.
